In a career spanning over thirty years, Karl has a proven track record of providing senior leadership teams with the intellectual capital to disrupt thinking, see new perspectives, shape understanding of the now, and identify the levers to charge business growth.

Through his work, he has helped to revive the fortunes of notable names keen to put the customer at the heart of their brand experience and commercial decision making.

 
  • Beginning his career with today’s leading retailer Next in the early days of its own remarkable brand story, he went on to join the Burton Group and later to help relaunch Paperchase for WHSmith.

    In 1993 Karl founded pioneering agency, Visual Thinking, which made its mark by championing the importance of fully aligned and consistently executed retail brand delivery ⎼ long before it became the essential boardroom level topic in today’s competitive business landscape.

    For two decades the company was a trailblazer and forerunner of original thought, ground-breaking instore initiatives and brand innovation programs leading a generation of change.

    Karl is an experienced consultant, media commentator, keynote speaker, as well as founder and regular host on the podcast, ‘The Retail Exchange’.

    He has appeared on TV series including: 'The Apprentice’ as a judge in Series 12, ‘The Fixer with Alex Polizzi’ and most recently ‘The Trouble with M&S’. He has also featured on the BBC, ITV, Sky, Channel 5, Bloomberg, as well as in The Telegraph, FT, El Pais, China Daily, GQ, Esquire, Monocle and various other print titles.
